2008-2009 SoCal Youth Challenge Schedule

• Registration and payment for all events will be taken at the door only.
• These events are open to all unrated youth fencers.
• A rating in Foil, Epee or Sabre makes the fencer ineligible to participate in the SoCal Youth Challenge
(Example: A Y14 Foil fencer with a D07 would be ineligible to participate in Epee or Sabre).

* #2 or #0 blades will be required for all Y10 events.

• These competitions are for unrated fencers only and preregistration is not required. No weapon classifications will be awarded. All unrated youth fencers are encouraged to participate. Any fencer that earns a rating after having competed in at least two of the SoCal Youth Challenge events will still be eligible to fence for the remainder of the current season.

• All events will be fenced with electric equipment. Underarm protectors, chest protectors, knee high socks, etc., will be required.

• Fencers born between 1998-2001 are eligible for the Y10 events. Fencers born between 1996-1999 are eligible for the Y12 events. Fencers born between 1994-1997 are eligible for the Y14 events.

• Boys and girls will be mixed in each age category with 100% promotion from the first round.

• Points will be awarded at each competition for all age categories. The top 3 out of 4 results will be used to determine the Youth Challenge Champions at the end of the 2008-2009 season.
